Regular readers of my blog may have been following my photo series introducing my makeup collection which is stored within this handy little storage unit from Ikea called the Helmer….
….this week it is the turn of my nude and neutral lipsticks.
I only have two lipliners which I use with all of my nude and neutral shades of lipstick. The first is from Mac in the shade Naked which is a light neutral perfect when you are using a very light lip colour. What makes this shade a must have though is that it is so creamy and pigmented, that it is perfect for removing all pigment from the lips. What this means is that any colour you apply on top stays true. Genius!
The second liner I have is Cranberry by Palladio. This is the perfect shade for me when I am wearing a neutral lip – the kind of colour I would have described last year as a my lips but better shade. This is a wax free pencil with a silicone base so glides on smoothly disguising any lines or dry patches. It gives such a perfect base that I often use it on its own with or without a slick of gloss on top. Best of all about 3 secs after application, the colour sets and stays put for literally HOURS!!! Oh and it cost about a pound from Primark – you’ve got to love a bargain!
The ultimate nude lip product is the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in shade 06. A makeup/skincare hybrid, it treats your lips and adds just a hint of colour and gloss, making them look plump and oh so juicy.
I am not a huge fan of Estee Lauder lipsticks. Dont get me wrong, the formula is to die for, super moisturising yet somehow lasts for hours. For me though the colours tend to be just a little bit grannyish. This one though is perfect – a light neutral pink with just a hint of berry which has been getting a lot of love from me recently.
Stark Naked by Urban Decay is one of my favourite lipsticks at the moment. I pretty much love everything about it, from the shade, to the formula and of course the packaging. I actually devoted a whole blog post to this lipstick, if you missed it, check it out here.
Another nude from my lipstick collection that I loved so much I devoted a whole post to it, is Starkers by Illamasqua . The perfect name for a nude lipstick don’t you think.
But no matter what colourway of lipstick I am writing about, the post will always be dominated by Mac. They just have such a huge range of colours, the formulas are perfect and I don’t need to tell you how good they smell.
In the nude and neutral lipsticks section of my helmer there are three Macs.
On the left is Fleshpot a light beige nude with pink undertones. I wear this with the Palladio liner and love the way it looks with a smoky eye.
In the middle is Honey Love which is very similar to Fleshpot in that is is also a pink toned nude in a matte formula. Honey Love is a few shades darker than Fleshpot though which makes it much more versatile and perfect for an everyday lip.
The last Mac lipstick I own is To The Future which is part of the Pro Longwear range. It is a lovely peachy pink which has a sheen when newly applied but quickly settles to a demi matte. To read a full review click here.
The last lipstick in my collection of nudes and neutrals is actually the first nude lipstick I ever owned. I have so many lipsticks, I never use them up, but as you can see, I am getting very close with this one. It came from a collection by Bare Minerals called the Perfect Nude Lip which featured this lipstick, a lip pencil and a gloss. I would say out of all my lipsticks, this is probably my perfect nude, the warm caramel shade is very flattering, the formula is really creamy and it lasts and lasts and lasts. Sadly I think this lipstick been discontinued so if any of you can recommend a dupe, I would be very grateful.
So those are all of my nude and neutral lipsticks – what do you think? Is your perfect nude amongst them?
