You would have to be a Buddhist monk not to realise that the makeup product of the season is the highlighter. Whether you are into the whole STROBING thang (check it out here) or whether you like to keep things a little more subtle, everyone needs a good highlighter in their kits this summer.

One of my favourite brands at the moment is Urban Decay so when I heard that they were introducing a new highlighter to their range, the Naked Illuminated*, I had to try it out.

The Naked Illuminated isn’t NEW new, it’s more of a reincarnation type deal. It has appeared before in various limited edition collections until finally Urban Decay realised that this little beauty is simply too goddamn beautiful to kill off.

And so it is back, it is permanent, it is the URBAN DECAY NAKED ILLUMINATED!

Just take a moment to fully appreciate this golden globe of gorgeousness. The Naked Illuminated Powder is baked on a terracotta dish for 24 hours, before being finished by hand to create that perfect silky shimmer. There are two shades available – Luminous and Aura . I have Aura which is the most glorious shade of rose gold that will work beautifully with most skin tones. Luminous is more of a champagne shimmer and to be honest, I may have to pick it up too.

The Naked Illuminated is pricey at £22 but you get a HUGE amount of product for your money which is lucky because this is a real multi-tasker.

Cheek bones The most obvious way to use this product is on the tops of the cheekbones.

Eyes It also makes the most beautiful eye shadow and looks fantastic in the inner corners.

Eyebrows To perfect your eyebrows, highlight below AND above your arch.

Lips For that full, sexy, look without the needles, dab a little of this on your cupid’s bow and in the centre of your bottom lip.

Decollete For sexy summer nights, sweep a little across your shoulders and decollete.

Arms and Legs For a healthy glow, add a little to your moisturiser before applying to your arms and legs.

I love Urban Decay’s packaging and the Naked Illuminated didn’t let me down with it’s marble effect, cardboard compact which closes securely with magnets and has a generously sized mirror and brush hidden in the base.

Naked Illuminated is not a subtle, barely-there kind of product, it’s bright, catches the light and photographs really well – everything you need from a highlighter really.

Have you embraced the highlighting craze? What is your favourite product to use?
