Clarins Super Restorative Skincare

Clarins Super Restorative Skincare
I’ve always been lucky with my skin. It has stood up really well to years of too much sun, sugar and alcohol! Oops! In the last few years though, I have to accept that my skin has started to show my age and I know that if I want to avoid looking like a well worn handbag I need to change my ways. I have begun self tanning and almost entirely cut sugar from my diet although I have to admit, the alcohol is proving a challenge.
One thing in my favour though is that I have always loved my skincare. From a very young age, I have enjoyed pampering myself with all sorts of lotions and potions and I am never happier than when I have a new one to try. The most recent range to hit my bathroom shelf is the Clarins Super Restorative Skincare range which was kindly sent to me by John Lewis.
Clarins Super Restorative Skincare
The Super Restorative range is aimed at those of us with more mature skin. Frankly if you are lucky enough to have the complexion of a 20 year old then Clarins probably have products that would suit your skin better than this range but if like me, your skin is starting to show those tell tale signs of ageing then stick around, these products could be just what it needs.
I was sent three products from the range, the Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate, the Super Restorative Day (for all skin types) and the Super Restorative Night (for very dry skin). Also included in the range are a Wake Up Lotion, a Mask, Serum and Neck and Decollete Cream if you really fancy treating yourself.
Clarins Super Restorative Eye Cream
In my family we suffer from eye bags. Its hereditary. My Mum has them, I have them and both of my children have them – thanks Mum! Without eye bag surgery I am never going to rid myself of them completely but the Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate claims that used night and morning it will banish lines, dark circles and puffiness giving a mini eye ‘lift’ for women challenged by natural hormonal changes. I love the packaging (I hate eye creams in jars, it is so unhygenic) – just one pump of product spread between my ring fingers and patted round my orbital bone is all that my eyes need. This product is a cream but it has the texture of a gel and absorbs immediately without any tacky residue. There is a hint of golden luminosity to this eye cream. It is not enough to be obvious but it gives an instant lift to the area while the premium ingredients work on delivering long term improvements to your skin’s tone and texture. This really is a top class eye product – can you believe there is even an ingredient in there that helps fortify the eyelashes???
Clarins Super Restorative Day Cream
Did you know that in the five years following menopause, your skin loses around 50% of its thickness and its collagen production falls by 30-35%. I was unlucky enough to experience this hormonal change younger than expected and I certainly have seen a marked deterioration in the quality of my skin. Clarins are on it though. Using a combination of nature and technology this range compensates for the drop in hormones, and encourages the skin to continue to function at it’s optimum capacity. Perfect!
The Clarins Super Restorative Day contains Harungana, a Madagascan medicine which has been shown to be 40% MORE EFFECTIVE THAN RETINOL on the synthesis of collagen and by restoring the cellular structure of your skin will reduce deep wrinkles and help with firmness. What I love about it most is that whilst delivering heavy weight results, it is light on the skin, absorbing instantly without a trace greasy residue – nice!. Nothing worse in the morning that having to wait before applying your makeup until your moisuriser has fully absorbed. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Clarins Super Restorative Night Cream
The Super Restorative Night features the star ingredient Montpellier Rock Rose. Clarins has teamed up with the National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM) to target the biological changes that come with ageing and decreased hormone production. I have the Extra Dry Skin formula which is the texture of a thick cream and leaves the skin feeling plump and super hydrated without a trace of oiliness.
Although I love the way my skin has looked and felt since I started using these products, it hasn’t really been long enough to observe any long term changes. Clarins have done their research though and the results are impressive. After just 14 days use of the Clarins Super Restorative products, skin hydaration has been shown to increase by 42% but it was after 3 months use that the magic really happens. A 35% increase in Epidermis density, 19% increase in Dermis density, 34.5% improvement in skin tone, 20% reduction in depth of wrinkles and a 41% reduction in the volume of wrinkles. Sounds pretty great right? And those aren’t just empty claims. These are the results achieved on real womens skin.

I can’t wait to see what it does for mine!
