Most people start their diets after New Year but in my family, we have 4 birthdays between 5 January and 10 February all of which we celebrate with meals out, gooey cakes and copious amounts of alcohol. By the time birthday season is over, I am usually – caked out- and more than ready to get back into healthy eating to lose those christmas pounds.
This year though, I have an extra challenge. In January I began working in Edinburgh adding a 4 hour commute to my day. I get up at stupid o’clock in the morning and don’t have the time or the inclination to stop and eat a healthy breakfast. Fast forward an hour and I am sitting on the train, starving and struggling to resist the snack trolley. It’s the same at the end of the day. And even if I do manage to stay strong and make it home without snacking, by the time I get in at around 8pm, the last thing in the world I feel like doing is cooking a meal from scratch.
As for exercise? Forget it!
The end result of all this is that since mid December I have gained a solid stone. My clothes don’t fit, I feel sluggish and unhealthy and I know something has GOT to change.
So when I was offered the opportunity to try a selection of products from ExanteDiet I was keen to learn more.
While I waited for the products to arrive, I did a bit of research on the ExanteDiet website here and was really impressed by what I read. But lets get down to business – what do the products taste like?
As you can see I was sent a variety of products to try. Some of them were so delicious, I couldn’t resist them long enough to take the photograph – oops!
What I loved most though (after the taste) was how convenient the products were.
No time to cook? No problem!
Just grab a bar, or mix up a shake and enjoy – knowing your nutritional needs are being met and the weight is coming off.
Exante know that sometimes nothing but a hot meal will do and whatever your favourite food is, they have it covered. Porridge in the morning? Check!
Prefer pancakes? Check!
Soup for lunch? Check!
Curry, pasta, burgers? Check, check check!
Exante even claim to offer a quick and easy pizza for those times when nothing else will do.
Pizza? Really? This one I had to try!
Inside the box were two sachets – one for the base and one for the sauce. So far so simple.
No pizza making skills required here. To make the base, just add water, smooth onto a piece of greaseproof paper and bake for ten minutes.
Next add water to the sauce mix, cook in the microwave for two minutes and spoon onto the cooked base.
Then it’s the fun part, adding your toppings. I kept calories low by adding lots of lean ham with just a little half fat mozzarella but you can adapt yours to suit your own taste.
Finally just pop your pizza back in the oven till the cheese is bubbling – and enjoy.
Now I know I am no food blogger and I really do prefer my pizza well fired – it’s not burnt honest, but take my world for it , this was good pizza!
After years of dieting, I have learned that if I deprive myself , I start craving the food I am trying to avoid. That leads to binging which undoes all of my hard work. So what I loved about my Exante pizza was that while it may not have tasted EXACTLY like a Dominoes, it was delicious and stopped me feeling like I was missing out.
I was so impressed by the products I tried from ExanteDiet, that I filled my details in on the health check on their website to find out what plan was recommend for me. The results suggested that the LCD (Low Calorie Diet) would suit me best and I am definitely interested in finding out more.
