Who doesn't want beautiful hair? We all do of course. Yet every day we abuse our follicles with harsh shampoos, chemicals and heated appliances. Why not make 2015 they year you grow your luscious locks with these New Years Hair Resolutions from Hair Trade.
1. Try not to wash your hair everyday
Aim to wash your hair every three days if possible – shampooing your hair everyday can strip it of naturally occurring oils and will leave it limp, weak and difficult to work with.
If you find your hair needs a boost in between washes, trying spritzing it with dry shampoo for volume.
2. Don’t brush your hair when it’s wet
When your hair is wet, it’s at its weakest so brushing it when damp means strands are more likely to break.
Instead, take a wide-toothed comb into the shower and comb your locks when you have conditioner in.
3. Treat you hair to an intensive conditioning treatment once a week
Nourish your hair and it will thank you for it – intensive conditioning treatments only need to be done once a week for amazing results.
Some products will suggest leaving it on for three minutes but for a fully nourishing treatment, put on the conditioner, wrap your hair in cling-film and let it soak for half an hour.
4. Rinse your hair in cool-to-cold temperatures
The thought of a cold shower in January is not the most appealing but your hair can benefit hugely from it.
Hot water can result in overly porous hair and a frizzy mane so brave the cold rinse to seal moisture in your hair and increase shine.
5. Eat your way to healthy hair
Your diet and nutrient intake can hugely affect the appearance and condition of your hair.
Feed your hair foods high in naturally occurring protein – think chicken, oily fish, pulses and nuts.
6. Always use heat protection
If you use heat for styling then make sure to use protection – heat damage can dry out hair follicles and make it appear dull.
Invest in a good heat defence spray for soft, smooth style with body and healthy shine so you can feel confident that heated tools won’t frazzle your ends.
7. Book in for regular trims
To avoid split-end nightmares, try and keep up to date with booking a trip to the salon.
Fine hair should be cut every six weeks, whilst thick hair needs a trim every eight – try to stay on top of it.
8. Clean your hairbrush
Just like you clean your make up brushes, you should keep your tangle tamer squeaky clean as well.
Shampoo your hairbrush to remove dirt, oil, and any built-up hair products.
Also, try to keep your heat styling tools like straighteners clean too by wiping them down every week.
9. Protect your color
Keep your colour vibrant by investing in a colour-protecting shampoo and not drowning your hair in water, as it will drain it of the dye.
Try and look for products specific to your shade for ultimate colour-enhancing results.
10. Don’t try to fight your hair’s natural style
If you spend hours battling with your barnet, whether it’s over-styling or product-loading then stop.
Not only will this make your hair lacklustre but also over-styled looks are so 2014 – embrace your hair’s natural style and channel the “effortless” mantra.

After all the present buying earlier in December, my bank account was looking pretty grim so I was THRILLED to receive a gift card from OASIS to treat myself in the sales. Much as I love shopping, sales time can get pretty chaotic, so rather than head into town, I headed to the Glasgow Fort, which is 5 miles from the city centre, just off the M8. With lots of free parking and all the shops anyone could ever hope for, this is one of my favourite places to shop and at this time of year, it's the perfect way to beat the crowds.
Oasis are a contemporary British brand that have recently turned 20 years old – happy birthday to them! With 300 stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and another 79 stores across 19 countries, including Asia, the Middle East and Russia, Oasis truly have worldwide appeal. I especially love their bold use of colour and print, which brightens up my usual monochrome take on fashion.
Oasis are offering up to 50% off this January so I was confident I could find something to brighten up my winter wardrobe.
So what did I pick up?
The first thing I spotted was this shocking pink layered blouse which features a jersey underlay with chiffon overlay and sleeves. I adored the colour and can see me getting a lot of wear out of this top. At just £15 this was my first bargain of the day.
My second purchase was an essential in everyone's wardrobe - a pair of black skinnies. Stylishly high waisted, and made from a medium weight fabric with just enough stretch to make them super flattering and very comfortable, these were a bit of a steal at just £30.
My last purchase was this gorgeous antique gold lace camisole. I absolutely love the scalloped edging, the fabulous colour and the intricate pattern of the lace. Like the first top, this beautiful piece was another amazing bargain at just £15.
Having bagged so many bargains, I felt I deserved a wee treat before heading home so stopped for some street food on the way out. There was loads to choose from but I opted for a waffle with Nutella and whipped cream which was deliciously indulgent!
Just look at how cute this cosy red London bus is - it has been fitted out with seating for diners, which was a welcome touch on this very cold, frosty, December day.
I was really pleased with my Oasis haul. Two tops and a pair of skinnies for less than £60 is a bit of a result, don't you think?
Have you treated yourself to anything from the sales this year? What was your best bargain?

I'm a Virgo which means I tend to have very high standards for everyone around me and especially myself. It can be an exhausting trait to have so at Christmas I like to relax those standards just a little.
Make-up Wipes - I am a huge fan of Caroline Hirons and like to follow her mantra that wipes should only ever be used on fannies, flights and festivals. This Christmas though has been all about the fun with way too much alcohol, meaning that more than once I have found myself in bed in the early hours with all my makeup still on. At times like that, nothing short of a hot Fireman Sam at my door is ever going to get me up out of my bed so I have taken to keeping a pack of wipes and a bottle of night oil in my bedside drawer. I know it's not ideal but as an occasional fix, it is okay to use wipes on your face.
Christmas Jumpers - I love my Elf Jumper with its tinkly bells and matching hat. Christmas day may be over but it is definitely still Christmas time so in my eyes it is okay to keep wearing Christmas Jumpers, until New Year at least.
Dodgy Presents - This one is more sensitive so I have to watch how I put it. I have always been taught to be grateful for whatever present I am given. No matter how tasteless or ill fitting a gift might be, I was brought up to plaster a big smile on my face and assure Auntie Mavis that a pair of mustard coloured slacks is exactly what I need to complete my New Year's Eve outfit. I still do this, it's only manners, right? These days though, as soon as Auntie Mavis leaves, off I pop to my local shopping mall to swap those mustard slacks for a sparkly little number that really WILL look the biz on Hogmanay. Is that awful? Nah, Auntie Mavis will never know so in my book, it is okay to return those dodgy presents for something you really love instead.
Jammie Days - If there is one thing I have been wearing more than my Elf Jumper it has to be my Christmas Jammies. Am I the only one that loves to spend whole days in fleecy PJs, watching old Christmas Musicals and singing along? It may be lazy but it is so much fun and because it is Christmas, I think it is okay to spend whole days on the sofa in my Jammies.
Ditch the Detox - For now at least. My Instagram feed is full of people eating clean and I admire them all deeply but for me the detox won't start until 5 January at least. So pass the Quality Street, cos until then, it is okay to pour another glass of fizz and nibble on another choccy.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Happy Saturday to you. For me Saturdays are all about relaxing and looking back at the week's best bits. This week of course being Christmas week has had more best bits than most so it has NOT been easy to choose just three. After much um'ing and ah'ing though, I have finally managed to whittle it down. So here they are - This Weeks Best Bits.
I love Christmas and there is nothing that screams Christmas quite as loudly as this Elf Christmas Jumper with matching hat. Bought in Asda for about £10, I have really enjoyed wearing this jumper with it's cheery design and tinkly bells. I even wore the hat once or twice - don't you just love the Elf ears?
Every year, once I have all bought and wrapped everyone's pressies, I like to treat myself to a little something special. This year my gift to me was this Gift Set, called the Art of Mascara Noir Couture Prestige by Givenchy. This gorgeous set contains a full size Noir Couture 4 in 1 Mascara, a full size Mister Light Instant Light Corrective Pen, a Le Rouge Givenchy Lipstick in 103 Brun Createur and this stunning black leather look make up bag. So far I am loving all of the products. The lippy is a pretty rosy brown that looks great with an every day look. The highlighter is thicker than you might expect but blends well and has really helped disguise the late nights and unhealthy lifestyle I have been leading over the Christmas period. For me though, the absolute star of the show has been the mascara. I wasn't sure when I first saw the weirdly shaped brush but I have been really pleased with how long and curly it has made my lashes look. I will post a full review once I have used each of these products more regularly but so far, so fabulous.
Without wanting to sound cheesy though, for me the real joy of Christmas, is choosing just the right gifts for the people I love and watching their faces light up as they unwrap them. I adore this time of year and hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas full of love and laughter xxx

Everyone has heard of Eve Lom, the iconic skincare brand - and of all the products in their range, this must be the hero, the one everyone has heard of, the original balm, the Eve Lom cleanser. We all understand a balm cleanser these days, even the more budget friendly skincare lines carry them, but in it's day the Eve Lom Cleanser was truly innovative. It certainly isn't a budget option at around £34 for 50mls but for me it is worth every penny.
So let me tell you why I love it so much?
- First up it smells absolutely amazing. A herby, aromatic blend of Egyptian chamomile, hops, clove and eucalyptus, it is different to any other product out there.
- Next, it is a pleasure to use. A balm in the pot, it melts into an oil between your fingers, then glides over your face with absolutely no pulling or tugging.
- Furthermore it does what it says on the jar - cleansing your face beautifully, removing all traces of makeup - even waterproof mascara, but never stinging or irritating the skin.
- It makes facial massage an absolute pleasure - if you want to know how, read my step by step guide here.
- When used with the muslin cloth provided, it gently exfoliates my skin leaving it looking younger and fresher.
- It never dries out or strips my skin. On the contrary it leaves it looking plump and glowy.
- Finally, a little goes a long, long way so although it costs a bit to buy, I have convinced myself it is an absolute bargain.
Vogue called the Eve Lom Cleanser "probably the best cleanser in the world". I would tend to agree. What do you think? If you haven't tried this cleanser yet, I highly recommend you check it out here.

I love having a tan, it makes my eyes look brighter and my teeth look whiter and generally I just feel that bit more attractive. With just 12 sleeps till Christmas though, I can barely remember what the sun feels like and my skin has developed a not so pretty sallow hue.
But I have a secret weapon in my skincare arsenal, the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning For Face and Decollete. This stuff is really easy to use. I apply a 10p sized dollop with a cotton wool pad straight after my night time skincare routine. It is a light lotion so absorbs really easily without clogging up my pores and it smells totally DELISH! Best of all, it is really gradual so there's no need to worry about staining your eyebrows or hairline but used two or three times a week it gives me a really flattering golden colour.
This product isn't cheap at almost £20 for 125mls but a bottle lasts me about three months so I really feel I get my money's worth.
Do you use a gradual tanner on your face? What is your favourite?

I have always been a fan of The Body Shop perfumes, I wore White Musk for years as a teenager so when I was asked if I would like to try their new fragrance, Red Musk, I didn't hesitate.
First up, can I just point out how Christmassy this perfume looks? Inside the simple cardboard box is a chunky glass bottle showing the ombre tones of the product - pretty! The fragrance itself is right up my street. It isn't a floral - so if you are into your florals, you should probably look at some of the other gorgeous scents the Body Shop offer, because this one probably isn't for you. I would describe Red Musk as a unisex type smell so if you are into wearing your man's aftershave I would definitely give this one a sniff. Don't think that this is a masculine scent though - it isn't. The top note is pepper, the middle note is cinnamon and the base notes are tobacco and musk. It has a sweetness to it that softens the musk but this perfume is never cloying. What it is, is rich, warm and gloriously spicy. The wear time on this perfume is good but not great - on me it lasts about 4 hours - but at just £20 for 60 mls or £30 for a whopping 100 mls, when it starts to wear off, I just have another little skoosh - sorted!
So if you have still have a friend to buy a gift for or fancy treating yourself to a new perfume for Christmas, I highly recommend that you pop along to the Glasgow Fort and buy yourself a bottle of Red Musk from the Body Shop. Alternatively if you prefer to check out what the Body Shop have on offer online before you go, you will find their website here.

There has been a buzz going round the blogosphere lately - about a mascara that is rumoured to give AMAZING results, making even the shortest and stumpiest lashes look spectacular. I have without doubt the shortest, straightest and stumpiest lashes ever. Even the best mascara is wasted on me. Literally nothing I have ever tried has made my lashes look half way decent - except wearing a pair or two of falsies...
So I was very, very interested in trying this mascara and jumped at the opportunity of reviewing it for you all.
My first impressions were really, really positive. The packaging of this product is simply lovely. It comes in a textured case that reminded me of a designer sunglasses case with the company name and logo embossed on the top. The case is lined with a suede effect fabric and nestled inside are two tubes of products - the Moonstruck Transplanting Gel and the Moonstruck Natural Fibres.
So how does it work? Well I have read different people recommending different techniques but here is what I do.
1. Curl your lashes. I don't care how blessed you are in the lash department, curling them opens up your eyes and makes them look bigger. Always good!
2. Apply the Transplanting Gel as you would a regular mascara, in a thin coat applied from root to tip. This step is made really easy by this lovely big brush.
3. While the gel is still wet, apply a coat of fibres. I have learned through practise to keep this coat thin too.
4. Some people have spoken about getting a lot of fall out with this product but I deal with that by leaving the coat of fibres until it is completely dry then setting it with a generous layer of the transplanting gel.
5. If I am just going to work I stop there but if I am getting a bit more dolled up, I repeat the process as often as necessary to get the lashes I want.
So on the right is a naked eye - on the left, one coat of fibres. Pretty impressive huh?
And here is the difference between the naked eye on the right and two coats of fibres on the left.
But just look at the difference here between the naked eye on the right and the eye with three coats of fibres on the left.
Just spectacular I think.
So how much does it cost. I really thought that a product which delivered such incredible results would have an equally incredible price tag but the Younique Moonstruck 3D Fibre Lashes sell for just £23 for both products which is comparable with any other high end mascara. And this is not just any mascara - this is false lashes in a tube.
So if you want the look of false lashes without the faff of applying them, then try the Moonstruck 3D Fibre Lashes from Younique here. I could not recommend them more x
