Lucas Pawpaw Ointment Lucas Pawpaw Ointment

Lucas Pawpaw Ointment is an Australian product which contains a high concentration of papaya extract in a petroleum base.
This is a true multi tasking product.
First up it is a superb lip treatment. Once a week or whenever I need to, Before bed I use my Lush Lip Scrub then apply a coat of the Pawpaw Ointment. When I wake up, my lips are super soft and ready for whatever lippy my mood dictates.
I also love to use this product as an overnight foot treatment. I apply a thick layer then pop a pair of cotton socks and in the morning it has completely soaked in leaving my feet super hydrated.
The ointment has a high concentration of castor oil making it perfect as a treatment overplucked or sparse brows. It also does a great job of conditioning cuticles and encouraging strong healthy nail growth.
Another thing I love using my Lucas Pawpaw ointment for is to moisturise my elbows and knees before applying self tan. It is also perfect to take on holiday to soothe the skin after a long day in the sun.
Mums rave about this product too using it as a for small burns, chafing, gravel rash, splinters, insect bites and nappy rash.
Lucas’ Papaw Ointment comes in a 25g tube, 75g and 200g jars. It’s widely available online but the best price I could find for you was just 4.35 here.
Do you love Lucas Pawpaw Ointment? What do you use it for?

Hello Glow Rose Dust - Anti-ageing Facial Cleansing Polish Hello Glow Rose Dust - Anti-ageing Facial Cleansing Polish

I was delighted recently when the makers of Hello Glow Rose Dust - Anti-ageing Facial Cleansing Polish contacted me and asked me to review their product. I was happy to agree and even happier to receive in the post, this beautifully presented product which was contained in a delicate pink silk organza pouch and studded with diamantes.
Inside the bottle is a 100% natural blend of finely ground rose petals, milk, honey, rice and coconut powder with absolutely no preservatives or other nasties at all.

The product claims to:
smooths, tones and moisturises skin
loosens dead skin
help diminish the appearance of wrinkles
nourishes the skin and moisture to leave skin smooth and glowing
lightens pigmentation and dark circles around the eyes

It is recommended that you use this product every night but I like to change things up with my skincare so I have been using  it once or twice a week. I pour about a teaspoon of the powder onto my palm then mix with a few drops of water which makes a smooth paste which I then massage into my skin for a few moments. The paste doesn’t feel like an exfoliator, there are no beads or harsh grains, and it smells divine so just close your eyes and smell the roses while it dries on your face like a mask. After 10 mins or so rinse off with warm water and you are done.

I have really been enjoying this product. The powder is very finely milled and feels soft and very gentle, not abrasive at all. After using this product, my skin really does feels smoother and looks well nourished and much brighter, as if I’ve had a great nights sleep. I haven’t yet noticed any softening of the lines around my eyes nor any lessening of my dark circles but I am sufficiently convinced by the results that I will keep using this product as part of my skincare routine.
A 30ml trial size of the Hello Glow Rose Dust - Anti-ageing Facial Cleansing Polish is available here for just £4.99 with free UK delivery. Why not give it a go and let me know what you think?

Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor Treatment for Damaged Hair Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor Treatment for Damaged Hair

I have very long hair so my ends are probably older than most of the models at LFW and over the years have been dyed and  bleached then dyed again on a number of occasions.
After a holiday abroad last year, I was worried that I had overdone the abuse. My hair was horribly dry and starting to snap. My hairdresser wanted to chop it but I had been growing it for so long, I was super reluctant and starting looking for another solution. I must have tried every conditioner on the shelves of Superdrug but none of them seemed to really make a difference. After some internet research, I learned why.
My hair wasn’t just dry, it was structurally damaged.
What I needed was not a conditioner but a protein treatment. So I did what any good blogger should and read review after review and one product kept being mentioned. The Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor Treatment is a super charged protein treatment perfect for frizzy or chemically treated hair which is splitting or snapping. The directions say it should be applied to damp hair and left for 5 mins before being washed out but I think that's a terrible waste of a rather expensive product. I recommend that after you have coated your lengths in this product you wrap your head in cling film, like a turban, put a shower cap on top, then cover the lot in a towel. Leave the product to work its magic for at least an hour before washing out.
Protein treatments can leave the hair feeling very dry so don’t forget to use a deeply moisturising hydrating conditioner to finish off.
The results on my hair after just one use were fantastic. My hair felt strong and healthy. It was less porous meaning less time to dry.
Having continued to use this product once a week, the results just get better and better. My hair is less frizzy when I let it air dry with smooth defined waves that I never knew I had. When I blow dry my hair it lies smoothly with a shine I haven’t seen in years. This is an expensive product but for me the improved appearance and condition of my hair make it worth every penny.

A full 150ml tube is priced at £15.95 but you can try it here at £6.45 for 50mls with free UK delivery.
If you decide to use the Joico Protein treatment please let me know if you rate it as highly as I do.

YSL Rebel Nude 106 Beige Anarchist YSL Rebel Nude 106 Beige Anarchist

I am a Mac Lipstick fan.
90% of my lipsticks come in those familiar black bullet shaped cases that I love so dearly.
So why did I find myself recently handing over £25 to the scary YSL lady for a Rebel Nude in shade 106, Beige Anarchist?
Maybe it was the seriously glam golden packaging, maybe it was the high end display or maybe it was just because I am a sucker for the hype.
YSL say that their Rebel Nudes are never boring - that they affirm, define and underline.
They say that there is a right shade for every woman and the scary lady told me very firmly, that my shade was 106 - Beige Anarchist.

Isn't it pretty?
But what is it?
Rebel Nudes aren't traditional lipsticks with their doe foot applicators, nor are they as sticky as a lipgloss or as watery as a lipstain.

YSL say that Rebel Nudes are a mixture of all three, capturing the shine of a gloss with the colour of a lipstick and with the lasting power of a stain.
There are 10 shades of Rebel Nudes available from brown through beige and peach to pinker tones. Beige Anarchist, shade 106 is a rosy beige that looked really pretty in the little window at the side of the case.
So was it worth the money?
I followed the special application method explained by the scary lady.

I used the very soft, perfectly shaped applicator to apply one coat then waited for 30 secs and reapplied.
First Impressions? My lips but no better!
This particular shade is a total match for my lips.
I was utterly underwhelmed. Sure this product adds a little shine but at £25 I was expecting so much more.

I found out later shade 106 is one of the sheerest of the range along with 101 and 107. The more intense shades are 103, 104 and 108.
But how did it perform? Did it last? No not really, certainly not through food or drink.
Would I repurchase?
Absolutely not. Pretty as the packaging was, this product was too sheer for me and did not have the longevity I need from a lippy.
Have you tried a YSL Rebel Nude? What did you think of it?

My Top Three Make Up Brushes My Top Three Make Up Brushes

As a teenager beginning to use make up, application was not something I thought about. I used my fingers to apply foundation, the tiny brush that came with it to add stripes of blusher and the sponge applicators to put on my eyeshadow. Hardly a surprise then that when I look back at old family photographs, I look more like Marilyn Manson that Marilyn Monroe.
Nowadays we are all much more educated about makeup. We know our brands, textures, finishes and collections - yay for the beauty blogs  who put all this information out there.
When it comes to make up brushes though I wonder if we are all getting a little carried away with the hype. I hold my hands up, I too, have literally dozens of powder brushes, blusher brushes, brushes for every inch of my face and neck and don't get me started on sponges….
Recently though as I was settling down to my regular chore of washing my brushes I began to wonder if I really needed quite so many brushes and the conclusion I came to was probably not. I decided that if necessary, I could survive with just My Top Three Make Up Brushes and here they are.

My Top Three Make Up Brushes

Foundation can be applied without a brush very easily as the warmth of your fingers helps smooth and blend leaving a flawless finish.
Blusher is a different matter though and I could not be without my Real Techniques blusher brush.

Real Techniques Blusher Bruah

Made from synthetic bristles this brush is hand cut at the perfect angle to blend the edges of the blusher as you apply leaving a perfect finish. The shape of the brush also allows you to use it for bronzer or even highlighter if you wished, a real all rounder. This brush is priced at £9.99 but is currently available for £8.99 at Fragrance Direct
are offering free postage on orders over £40 at the moment.

Mac 217 Blending Brush

The next brush I really couldn’t do without is my Mac 217. It is sold as a blending brush but if I needed to I could easily put on my whole eye with it. Unusually the bristles on this brush are white but they are densely packed in an oval shape making it perfect to shade or blend powders or creams. It is priced at £18 which I know is pricey but no kidding, it makes even a klutz like me able to do a really expert looking smoky eye. I really really recommend it. You can get one at any Mac counter or online direct from Mac.

Brow and Lash Brush

As I really like to apply my lipstick directly from the bullet, the last brush I couldn’t be without is my QVS Brow and Lash groomer. I really love this brush. It costs just £2.98 from Asda direct here but does absolutely everything a much more expensive product would do. I use it to tame my brows prior to filling them in then comb through afterwards to ensure the colour is properly blended. I also like to use the eyelash comb between coats of mascara to avoid a heavy clumpy look.
So there you have it, my top three make up brushes for a perfectly polished look.

What makeup brushes do you need?

Honey Love Lipstick by Mac

With a name like LippyLikes it will be no surprise to anyone that I love my lippy, so when I was asked to decide on my favourite, how could I decide? The problem for me was out of all of my favourites, what lipstick to choose. I have a real penchant for bright, bold lipsticks. Readers of my blog know that I enjoy rocking a strong lip and my love for Mac Rebel, So Chaud and Flat Out Fabulous is known to all. But when I was asked to pick a favourite, I quite controversially chose Mac's Honey Love. Why? Because it is my perfect nude, goes with anything and lasts all day!

Just NUTS about Mr Nutcase Just NUTS about Mr Nutcase

I love my iPhone 5 but hands up, I don’t look after it very well and as a result it was starting to look distinctly grubby. So when I was contacted on Twitter by the fantastically named Mr Nutcase offering me a free case, I jumped at the chance.
Mr Nutcase has been established for many years as a supplier of personalised mobile phone and tablet cases. They can print any image or design of your choice to fit an iPhone, Blackberry, Samsung, HTC, iPad, Kindle and many many more.
Mr Nutcase has a huge range of images you can choose from but what I was interested in was using my own photographs on the case so that was the option I chose. I had the choice of a hard backed case or a leather flip style case and as you can see, went for the latter.
The process was simple and fun. I was given a choice of various layouts using between 1 and 12 pictures of my choice. Mr Nutcase lets you try the various options on a mock up of your phone so although it was easy and should have taken just a few minutes, I spent over an hour, chuckling over various combinations. It was a lot of fun.
Once I had chosen which photographs I wanted and in what order, I was shown a preview of how the case was going to look allowing me to check that it was just as I wanted before ordering, which I did at around 3pm that day.
Later that day, I was sent an email letting me know that my items had been dispatched and first thing the next morning my phone arrived.
I absolutely love it. It makes me smile whenever I look at it. Everyone I love is on there and it holds so many special memories.

As I said at the beginning, my case was very kindly given to me free but it would have cost just under £20 which I think is a total bargain. Mr Nutcase offers free worldwide delivery too.

This was not a sponsored post, I am just genuinely nuts about my Mr Nutcase case. Check out the website here.

Moo cards Moo cards

Moo Cards

I never really thought about getting business cards for my blog. Its not a business after all, its my hobby,  my way to relax, an absolute pleasure. But a week or so ago, when I found myself in yet another conversation about my blog, telling my hairdresser where to find it, knowing she would NEVER remember, I finally decided it was time to invest in some blogging cards.
I looked into it and found Moo's website here. I loves the website. It was easy to follow, full of great ideas and really made me laugh. Moo can supply you with cards of every shape and size, printed with pretty much anything you like. I wanted to keep mine very simple yet easily identifiable so I chose these. I picked the mini cards, about half the size of a normal business card, because I thought they were very cute.

Moo Cards

The design process was very easy and a lot of fun.
Best of all having 50 cards printed to my specifications and delivered to the door cost me less than £30 - and that includes a little pink case to keep my new cards from getting grotty at the bottom of my bag.

I am really chuffed with my wee cards and can't wait to start handing them out. If you want some of your own, this little card came with a discount code when they sent me mine. No-one said I couldn't share....
