My regular readers will know that for the last few weeks I have been looking at the various benefits of Coconut Oil.

Before I start though can I remind you of the importance of buying a good quality virgin oil and to stay away from hydrogenated coconut oil. We have all heard about the difference between good and bad fats. Hydrogenated Coconut Oil is full of unhealthy, bad fats. Virgin Coconut Oil on the other hand is full of all of those good fats which are crucial for a happy healthy body.
So what can your tub of Virgin Coconut Oil do for your health and fitness?

It has a much higher smoke point than other conventional cooking oils which means it maintains its goodness even when heated. People assume Olive Oil is the most healthy oil to use but in fact Olive Oil is only beneficial when used cold as a dressing. For frying, baking or roasting, coconut oil is the way to go.

Coconut Oil does not produce a insulin spike in your bloodstream. Instead it has been shown to control and stabilise blood sugar by improving the secretion of insulin. As well as helping those with diabetes and insulin resistance, this can help the rest of us stick to out healthy eating plans by reducing cravings.

11. Coconut Oil Helps With Weight Loss

Even though it is a fat, it is true that Coconut Oil can help you lose weight. As well as reducing cravings, increasing your metabolism and improving the quality of your exercising, coconut oil does not linger in the blood like other fats. Instead it is sent STRAIGHT to the liver where it is converted to energy. I repeat, fat from Coconut Oil will not be stored as fat on your body, it will be used to create energy instead.
