So today was mostly about Mac.
First I picked up everyone's favourite, a MAC 217.
Then I had yet another shot at finding that elusive perfect nude.
A medium toned tawny peach
Then I decided to add to my palette
With firstly the beautiful Amber lights
Then Folie, a medium warm toned brown, ideal for blending
And finally, this seasons classic Cranberry

Whoever named TOPSHOP really got it spot on, this is my first stop whenever I go shopping. Whenever I am looking to buy a present for someone, I always know whatever the age or taste of the person I am buying for, I will always find what I need in this store. As for me, I always find something I love in this shop, whether it be clothes, shoes, accessories or makeup, whatever I am looking for I am invariable spoiled for choice. So for this Fridays Lustlist destination, I chose everyone's favourite store.
SATIN ANIMAL JUMPSUIT
was a gorgeous alternative. It looks so flattering and comfortable yet dressy enough to wear to all your Xmas parties and nights out.The material is beautiful but it is machine washable, so no problem if like me you are prone to becoming clumsy after a vino or two. At only £58 I think it is an absolute bargain. Available in size 4 - 16.
So next on my Friday Lustlist are these spectacular
SASKIA GREY LEOPARD PEEPTOE PLATFORMS.
I am definitely Simenon who likes her heels and for me, these have it all. Super dressy and just the thing with the jumpsuit above, Admittedly they don't look too comfortable with their 5" heels but from taxi to barstool? Perfect! At £60 I simply have to have them.
Made of 100% gold metal it is surprisingly comfortable as it is stretchy. I think it looks really unusual with the bar detail at the front. I can imagine wearing it with all sorts of outfits but obviously it would be totally perfect with the jumpsuit above. At just £16 here I think this would be a great gift.
Next up on my Friday wishlist are these
IRREGULAR SHAPE TRIANGLE EARRINGS
by Freedom. Made of 100% gold toned metal, they are surprisingly light in weight and comfortable to wear. At just £4.50 they would look fantastic worn with hair in a messy updo.
The last item on my Friday Lust List is this
SANTA SAYS RELAX PYJAMA SET.
This would make a perfect present for me or prett\y much any female on your xmas list. Aren't they just the cutest? They are 100% cotton so machine washable and would be perfect to wear as you're sitting under the tree ripping the wrapping paper from all your pressies on Christmas morning. Available in size 6 - 16 for £26.
So those are the items heading up this Friday's Lustlist. Hope all my friends are reading this!!!

As I have got older one of the things I have really noticed is that the skin on my body has got dryer. The worst area for me is the skin on my lower legs. If I miss a few days of body lotion, I start shedding like a snake, not attractive!
Whenever I remember, I go to bed with a thick layer of body cream on but at bedtime, I am often way too tired to bother.
You can imagine how interested I was in this product then. A body lotion which was quickly absorbed but hydrated the skin for 7 days? Straight into my basket it went.
So as you can see the packaging is basic but practical so I was really quite surprised when I reached for it after my shower and squeezed out this rich, glossy, expensive looking cream.
This product smelt lovely but it was a very light fragrance which would not interfere with your perfume which is good. It absorbed really quickly allowing me to get dressed right away which for me is really important as I am always in a hurry in the morning.
My skin did feel lovely after using this product, soft and smooth to the touch.
Did it last for 7 days? Truthfully no! It definitely lasted all day though. Given how quick and easily this product applied, there is no excuse for not applying it every day.
Oh I nearly forgot to mention the price. On FeelUnique it costs a "worth every penny" £4.99, but I have found it for a super cheap £2.09 INCLUDING WORLDWIDE DELIVERY here. At that price, I strongly recommend you give it a try!
Have you entered my MAC giveaway yet? If not, hurry! It ends this weekend! Link under my header. Good Luck xxx

So as my regular readers know I picked up this MUA palette on a Twitter sale recently and promised to try it out and then write a review for you all. Apologies for the photo, that's not dirty fingerprints, its just some wear on the lid.
One initial criticism I would make is that the palette itself is made of quite a flimsy plastic which scratches easily. I would
worry about carrying it around in my bag in case I dropped it. On the plus side, I like that I can see at a glance what the palette contains.
To swatch the shades I used the double ended sponge applicator that came with the palette. I was totally blown away by the quality of the shadows. The texture was buttery and as you can see very smooth with fantastic colour payoff . When I used them on my bare eye I found they faded quite quickly but this problem was resolved when I used my Urban Decay Anti Ageing Primer Potion which I always wear anyway to keep those fine lines and wrinkles at bay. The most shimmery shades also had quite a bit of fallout but again wearing a primer should reduce this significantly.
All in all I absolutely loved this palette and for just £4 it would be a great stocking filler or little "thanks for being great" gift. Alternatively if you have a bit more to spend, what could be better than a few of these palettes all tied up with a pretty pink bow. I would LOVE that if anyone's reading this lol.
This palette is not new and has sold out almost everywhere. It is actually selling for double its RRP on eBay but I tracked it down for you at the original super bargain price of £4 here.
The Primer Potion with Anti Ageing properties that I was raving about is pretty pricey at an average £18 but Debenhams is selling a travel size at just £8 here.
Have you entered my MAC giveaway yet? If not, check it out. The link is just below my header. Good luck x
I really struggled with writing this post so lets get it out there right away. My weight loss this week is ZERO pounds. I am so disappointed and it took a lot for me not to just bang out a product review and pretend it didn't happen.
I think that is partly my problem though. I am a Virgo, a total perfectionist. I am an all or nothing kind of gal. All my adult life I have either been gaining or losing weight. If I am not restricting then I am binging. As a result when I stood on the scales this morning and saw no loss my immediate reaction was to tell my hubster to count me in for the sunday brekkie filled rolls. Yum!!
But I really really want this time to be different. The old me would have decided that there was no point in continuing cos I am never going to make it to goal before the excess of Christmas. The new me knows that I could be a stone heavier by Christmas if I follow that path. So I am determined to pick myself up, dust myself off and concentrate on learning new healthier habits.
So why did I stay the same. I followed my food rules pretty much but if I am honest with myself I really didn't deserve to loss this week. Why? Two reasons. The first is that my alcohol intake is creeping up again. Its so nice at the end of a stressful work day to have an ice cold drink curled up on the sofa with my husband watching mindless TV. It really is something I have to cut down on.
On the other hand, if I am serious about getting my weight back under control, I really need to do more exercise. Its something I know about myself yet for some reason I always let it slip. When I exercise, I find it so much easier to eat healthily. In the past it really has proved to be key. So this week that is going to be my focus. Exercise, exercise, exercise........
One positive from the week was that I found a delicious recipe for you all to try.
Spaghetti with Spanish Flavours
300g bag fresh spaghetti
20g pack of parsley
3 or 4 red peppers from a jar, in brine or oil
50g grated parmesan
handful of pitted black olives
First fry the sliced chorizo and peppers. Add cooked spaghetti to the pan and toss well to cover with all the yummy chorizo flavoured oil. Add the parsley and parmesan and toss again with loads of black pepper.
This recipe serves 4 and is super quick and easy to make. It is my kind of comfort food but has just over 400 calories per portion. Result!!!!
If you have any diet friendly recipes, I would be so grateful if you would share them below.

So today's haul post is a little different to the usual haul post in that I didn't pop out to Superdrug to pick up these little beauties, I bought them on Twitter. Although I'm no stranger to on-line shopping and have bought bits and pieces from blog sales before, this was a first even for me. But when I saw that the lovely Sophie from SophieRosee.com was selling 4 MUA palettes at a super duper bargain price, I had no other choice but to snap them up.
I've never had a MUA palette before but I must say it's love at first sight. So what did I get?
First up is the Glamour Days palette which contains 12 highly pigmented shadows, comprising of a mixture of brights and neutrals, shimmers and mattes. This is sold out at Superdrug stores nationwide but is still available on line here.
The second palette in my bundle of beauty is the Pretty Pastels Palette. As MUA say, what girl doesn't love pastels and this palette has 12 soft yet super pigmented shades. Can't wait to try them. If you want to try this palette it is still available on line for the crazy cheap price of £4 here.
Potentially my favourite of the four, the Heaven and Earth palette as you can see consists of 12 shimmering earth tones. This palette is just £4 and if you buy it from Superdrug here you get 3 for 2. Can you believe it? All three of these lovely palettes for just £8.
Finally how amazing does this look. The Artists Palette contains 6 marbled eye shadows, a blusher, a bronzer and a highlighter. It is sold out everywhere but I have tracked it down on eBay for a very reasonable £7.00 here.
Once I have had a play with these palettes, I will write a detailed review on colour payoff, texture, wearability etc but for now I have just one comment to make.
Am I not just the worlds best shopper snapping these up from the comfort of my bed?
And don't forget to enter my giveaway for YOUR CHOICE of your three favourite MAC lippies. Details under my header. Good luck x

So as many of you know I had been lusting after a Mac Palette for what seemed like ages. I had definitely been doing my homework and after a lot of stalking You Tubers and fellow bloggers I decided the palette of 15 was perfect for my needs. I was tempted by the 30 slot palette I can't lie, but I came to the conclusion that for me, it was probably best to stick to 15. So I went into Mac and bought the palette and insert. The palette has a clear lid which is really useful for letting you see what you have at a glance, and it has metal in the base allowing the magnets on the shadow pans to hold them in place. The palette itself costs £14.00 and is available here. Next I bought the insert which clicks neatly into the palette and has 15 circular opening for your 15 eye shadows. I know a lot of people don't use this which allows them to fit in more shadows and pans from other brands but for me I really like the sense of organisation I feel with the shadows perfectly placed in my palette. Its just whatever suits the individual I suppose but for me it was well worth the £6.50 price tag. Have a look for yourself here.
So my Mac eyeshadow palette cost me £20.50 before I bought a single shadow but then the fun began. I had been pouring over all the Mac shadows available on line for weeks and had drawn up a sensible list of colours I would use over and over again. But when I got into the shop and started swatching all the pretty shiny colours all ideas of sensible were forgotten. I had intended to start by buying one highlighter, a neutral lid colour and mid brown crease colour/ brow colour / definition shade, but I simply could not restrain myself. At one point I had so many colours swatched on the back of my hand that I ran out of space. Seriously. I did get a bit of a grip though, even though my palette could hold 15 pans my bank balance couldn't fund it so I managed to stop at 6. Don't they look pretty?
So what did I choose. In no particular order these were the little pots of magic I brought home.
1. Pink Venus
I love this colour, it is a light pink with a lovely silvery shimmer that really brightens up my lid. Really important to wear it over a primer though as otherwise it applies sheer and as you can see the fallout would be insane. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion though so it applies beautifully and lasts all day.
Another lustre finish, this one is a dark brown with warm reddish undertones and a gold/bronze shimmer.
Humid is a medium-dark forest green with a golden sheen.
This is the most gorgeous deep yet muted matte plum that really flatters my hazel eyes.
This is my perfect grey shadow, soft with NO sparkle but enough shimmer to stop it looking dull. Super blendable.
This is a really pretty mid tone gray with lovely shimmer but no glitter.
So I know I went a little over the top having spent £60 on the eyeshadow and just over £20 on the palette and insert but the savings I made on the pans has already almost paid for the palette and insert. My husband struggles to understand this logic but I know you all get it, lol!!
In any event I had a fabulous time choosing the shadows and will have so much fun using and wearing them so for me its an investment for sure. It will be like a hobby, filling up this palette week by week. I will be sure to share each new purchase with you all.

So this was another less than perfect week. I fell foul of the temptation commonly known as Two for Tuesday and enjoyed a few reunions with my dear old friend Pinot Grigio. Frankly I continue to fall off the dieting bandwagon regularly but I am trying hard not to be too tough on myself but instead to pick myself up, wipe myself down and get right back on it.
Exercise wise I did manage to keep to my schedule - I took the stairs, went to the gym a couple of times this week and generally tried to keep moving.
Foodwise I ate well and apart from the Doms on Tuesday, I kept the portion size and calories under control.
Weight wise Not too sure I really deserved it but I lost another 2 pounds this week, that's 4 pounds in the last fortnight so I am delighted with that.
I have copied out my favourite recipe of the week for you in case you want to give it a shot. It was so delicious and very healthy, I really do recommend you try it.
Risotto with Bacon and Peas (serves 4)
Ingredients 1 onion 6 rashers streaky bacon, chopped 300g risotto rice 1l hot vegetable stock 100g frozen peas
Method Finely chop the onion. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a knob of butter in a pan, add the onions and fry until lightly browned (about 7 minutes). Add the bacon and fry for a further 5 minutes, until it starts to crisp. Add the rice and stock, and bring to the boil. Stir well, then reduce the heat and cook, covered, for 15-20 minutes until the rice is almost tender. Stir in the peas, add a little salt and pepper and cook for a further 3 minutes, until the peas are cooked. Serve sprinkled with freshly grated Parmesan ()if you have a few extra calories to spare) and freshly ground black pepper.

So it may be Autumn where you are, but in Scotland it is now officially winter. Crisp frosty mornings, dark nights and the John Lewis advert all put me in the festive spirit so today's post is going to be about my three favourite lipsticks for this time of year.
Despite my Celtic roots, I have very dark hair, hazel eyes and medium skin which as I get older can look quite sallow without a tan. Because of that I like to brighten up my face in wintertime with a strong coloured lipsticks. I do have favourites from a number of different brands but when I picked my top three for this post, they were all from one of my favourite brands, Mac Cosmetics.
It is no coincidence that Mac is the professional choice of makeup artists around the world but their lipsticks are what made this brand famous. They have a huge range of colours and finishes meaning everyone can find one to suit.
So my first choice is Flat Out Fabulous This is one of the Retro Matte Collection which was inspired by Ruby Woos popularity. It is quite drying on the lips so a balm before hand is essential but it is totally worth it for the glamour of its flat matte finish.
This shade is described as plum but for me it is a strong but very wearable pink which can be blotted for a softer finish although personally, I like it bright. The lasting power of this lipstick is phenomenal, around five hours I find, before I need to reapply. I absolutely love this colour which is available on line from Mac for £15 and is perfectly described as FLAT OUT FABULOUS!!
My second favourite lipstick of the season is the aptly named rebel.
I first saw this shade being worn and fell in love with it. Frankly if I hadn't, I probably would never have bought it. For me, it is really quite scary looking in the bullet.
Applied to the lips however it is much less scary, a gorgeous plummy pink which is perfect for this time of year. It is a satin finish so not as flat a finish as the matte nor as drying, but it is just as long lasting as it seems to stain the lips so that even when the sheen wears off the colour just lasts and lasts. Because I know some of you still doubt me I have a photo of me wearing this.....
See! Not scary at all!!!
So Rebel is also £15 and available from all Mac stockists or on line here.
My final choice of Lipstick for this season is actually a Mac shade that I wear all year round. It is a real favourite of mine.
Mac describe this as an orange lipstick with a kick of red but on me this is my perfect red with a hint of orange lol. As I said I have quite sallow skin and the colour really lifts my complexion. It is another matte shade so get the lip scrub out and make sure your lips are well moisturised because it really will show up any dry or flaky patches. It applies smoothly though without dragging, and doesn't feel at all drying on the lips but it lasts and lasts and lasts. You can find this also at Mac online or at your local Mac counter.
So those are my top three shades of the season and I really do love them. If you love them too then watch this space. There will be exciting news for you on my next blog post.
