High End Skincare on a Budget

I have to admit I am a bit of a snob about skincare. I love the whole experience of buying and using prestige products and have always been of the opinion that you really do get what you pay for with face creams and the like

Recently though I was given the opportunity to try some products from Olay, a brand which triggers so many memories for me. I can still see the Oil of Ulay, a pink lotion in a heavy glass bottle, which sat on my mother’s dressing table throughout my childhood. I can’t remember Mum ever using any other skincare, and in her 80s she still has the skin of a woman many decades younger.

Today the brand has expanded into a number of different ranges all aimed at meeting the specific needs of different skin types. I was offered two products from their anti-ageing line to try, the Super Firming Serum and the Treatment Cream.

Regenerist 3-Point Treatment Cream – This cream is so light and fluffy that it is almost impossible to photograph. In order to let you see the gorgeous texture of the product I had to mess about with my camera settings so much that the jar looks almost black – it isn’t -the packaging is the same opulent red used in all regenerist products. Lightweight as the texture is though, don’t be fooled, this is a hard working product packed with highly concentrated ingredients such as the amino peptides which are designed to firm and plump the skin around the eye, jaw and neck, all areas which are quick to show our age as we get older. What I especially love about the product is that it starts to work on the upper layer of the skin making it look plumper and smoother instantly while the concentrated ingredients work at a deeper level to improve the firmness longer term.

On its own the treatment cream will give you fantastic results but if like me your skin needs a little bit of extra help then using the super firming serum first will give you more intensive results, faster.

Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Firming Serum – Much as I love my skincare, I am always in a hurry and never have time to stand about my bathroom waiting for products to absorb. I like my serums to sink in quickly so that I can move on to the next stage of my regime, and the super firming serum is great for that. I was quite surprised by how light and non greasy this was, given the highly concentrated formula which contains the same amino peptides as the treatment cream, multiplying the benefits on the skin. With the same light fragrance as the treatment cream both product are a pleasure to use.

At almost £30 each, these products are not cheap by any means but they are certainly much kinder to my purse than some of the brands I usually buy. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that my skin has never looked better, even when I have used products that cost twice as much. In fact studies have shown the Regenerist range to be more effective than rivals from Neutrogena, Avon, L’Oreal, StriVectin, Roc and even La Prairie!!! I guess this proves that you don’t always get what you pay for, sometimes you get way more, and in the case of Olay Regenerist, you get high end skincare on a budget.
