Anande Dolce by M Micallef

I love perfume. I especially love high end perfumes with their intricate balance of different notes combining perfectly to create something very special. I tend to stick to the more common designer fragrances like Tom Ford and Stella McCartney probably because those are the ones that are more accessible to me but I have always wanted to find a more exclusive perfume that I could make my signature scent.

I was recently contacted by M Micallef, a brand which I had heard of but never been lucky enough to try. Founded in Grasse in 1996, it is named after Martine Micallef who co-founded it with her husband Geoffrey Nejman. Martine is an artist and designer and influence is apparent in the beautifully carved and bejewelled bottles the perfume is presented in. Geoffrey is an Olfactorist and together with reknowned ‘nose’ Jean Claude Astier, develops the luxury fragrances that the brand are famous for.

I was sent a sample of their newest fragrance, Ananda Dolce which means ‘soft bliss’. Because it was a sample it came in a plain glass bottle but if you want to see some of the exquisitely designed M Micallef perfume bottles just click here.

I am not great at describing fragrances but I will give it my best shot. The top notes of Anande Dolce include sweet almond and peach. For me the sweet almond is most striking and reminds me of amaretto – yum. The mid notes are said to be white flowers and you certainly smell the floral but it is the base notes which I think make this perfume really stand out. The most noticeable are amber and white musk which give the fragrance a lingering depth and sensuality which I love. Sometimes musky base notes can be heavy and cloying. I hate perfumes like that, they smell so dated and often give me headaches. This fragrance though is very modern and while it does have a sexy depthb to it – it is soft and never loses its sweetness.

M Micallef’s Anande Dolce is a top end fragrance and comes at a top end price but in my opinion the quality really shows. I may have to start saving because this really is my perfect summer perfume. You can read more about the M Micallef fragrances here.
